Some months ago I wrote about a project I am working on to create a new online network for science enthusiasts who want to carry out nature observation projects, share their data with others, and collaborate with other citizen scientists across the street or around the globe.
This nascent project, currently called the Citizen Scientist Observatory Registry, will provide tools and resources for nature observers of every possible interest and level of expertise. With these tools, they will be able to collect, archive, search, and analyze their observations and those of others, and carry out new and exciting experimental studies on a scale undreamed of just a few years ago.
I am please to report that this project has now entered beta testing, and will probably remain there for a few months at least. There is a tremendous amount of work to do, but thanks to the support of the Society for Amateur Scientists and it’s founder and Executive Director Dr. Shawn Carlson and our IT Director Greg Crawford, we are looking to have this system available for science enthusiasts to use to further plumb the depths of nature’s mysteries and improve overall science literacy as a result.
Stay tuned.
